Savor the Moment by Nora Roberts (Bride Quartet 3)

ISBN: 978-0425233689
Rating: A

SAVOR THE MOMENT is book 3 in Nora Roberts Bride Quartet, featuring Laurel McBane, the sugary pastry chef of Vows. Laurel has been in love with her best friends brother, Del, for as long as she can remember; however will he ever see her as Laurel and not just one of his “sisters”.

While BED OF ROSES was a bit lack luster for me, SAVOR THE MOMENT made up for it at least in part. This series is about love and finding the one and how 4 friends who used to play wedding day made their childhood game into a reality when they open Vows, a wedding planning, hosting, and coordinating company. However, the core of these stories is the friendship these 4 women share, not necessarily the love that they find along the way. It’s the love of their friends that completed who they’ve become and it is a beautifully written story arc.

Since I would love to be in their position and plan weddings or take wedding photography I love this series, but I think I love it more because it is about the friendship and the bonds that you make. I look forward to HAPPY EVER AFTER, the final installment of this series about friendship, family and love.

BED OF ROSES is book 2 in the Bride Quartet series by Nora Roberts, featuring the love story of Emma Grant and Jackson Cook.    This series by Roberts is based around a wedding planning company, Vows, and the relationship between these 4 friends and the journey each takes to find their own fairy tale.  Emma and Jack have known each other for what seems like forever, and when their friendship turns to lust, the line between friend and lover get blurred.

VISION IN WHITE, the first in this series, brought me back to a love of Roberts romances again, BED OF ROSES was a bit harder for me to connect with.  In VISION IN WHITE Roberts created a character in Mackenzie that made her feel like she was one of your friends.  She had a history and flaws, and felt “real”; I don’t feel that Roberts gave Emma the same treatment.  I didn’t truly feel a connection to Emma until the last chapter.  The storyline was predictable and it felt that way.  It was rudimentary and expected.

So why did I give this book such a good rating?  Because I adore the friendship these 4 women share.  That is the backbone of this series, and as long as that relationship and those friendships continue to grow, I will bond with each of the characters with each new book.  The friendship is so beautiful in this story that you can’t help but want to call your best friend and tell her you love her.

Current Reading Choices

I am currently reading Lover Avenged by JR Ward, and for the first half of the book I had trouble getting into it.  It felt very disconnected and like it bounced around too much.  I wasn’t sure who’s story I was supposed to be focusing on.  However, 200 pages into the book and I feel like I am back where I belong in Caldwell New York.

I am currently listening to Vision in White by Nora Roberts, and I am already in love with this trilogy.  It’s the story of my dream come true, to own a wedding planning business.  I am enjoying the fact that it is the photographer’s story first because photography is important to me as well and reading a book that combines 2 things I love is making me one happy reader.

My next set of reads will be Bulls Island by Dorothea Benton Frank and You’ve Got Murder by Donna Andrews both are new to me authors and I am very excited about trying them.

Cherry Bomb by JA Konrath is waiting for me to pick up at the library but I know that I will only have 7 days to read it so I am going to try and wait to pick it up to the very last second or Tuesday.

Does anyone else plan their reads?  I don’t typically do this but I am kind of excited about it.  I have far too many books on my shelves and I think I am being overwhelmed by MT TBR’s avalanche.
