I love when I get my Happily Ever After, and Susan Wiggs always gives it to me with her Lakeshore Chronicles. With every new chapter in this cozy little world I grow even fonder of the characters that live here. I will say that my favorite storyline is that of young Daisy Bellamy, and Wiggs certainly threw me for a loop in Dockside. I am eager to see how this will play out in the future.
I find myself sitting here wiping a few tears from my eyes because there are moments of quiet strength and beauty in this series and it is told to the reader with such true emotion it’s hard not to love and feel as deeply as the characters. I will say that Nina may not be my all time favorite heroine, but I could appreciate the dynamic she brought to the love story. Nina is the love cynic, the one who doesn’t believe in true love, and thinks she only wants the freedom to do what she wants with whomever she chooses. However, she is a bit type cast and falls for the guy she swears she won’t and etc….too typical. Where as her counterpart Greg Bellamy tried to be noble when he was younger although he felt a deep connection to Nina. There lives continued to intersect and he always remembered. I loved that about him, that he never forgot.
Wiggs is quickly becoming one of my favorite contemporary romance authors right up there with Susan Mallery and Leanne Banks. She weaves real emotion into her stories and captures the reader right in the heart.
I look forward to reading the next book in the series, Snowfall at Willow Lake
