When I picked up this book on the library’s new release wall I was really excited to read it, it sounded like something I was really looking forward to reading. It said it was smart, and edgy and about a group of friends gathering together 6 years after college for the wedding of 2 of their friends. I have to say yes they were gathering for a wedding, but that is about the only part that was true.
These characters never really became more than 1 dimensional and they certainly weren’t people that I would ever want to be friends with, they were all hypocritical and unhappy with their own lives that they nit picked at everyone else’s lives in order to make themselves feel better. Now usually this is a character trait that can be somewhat overlooked or explained when it is used to show the growth of a character a la Something Borrowed and Something Blue by Emily Giffin. However, the characters in this book pride themselves on being rich and unhappy and willing to have random sexual encounters with their friends spouses.
I honestly can’t say that I cared about any of the characters in this book, which is sad considering I had such high hopes for this story. And to be perfectly honest, I am not even sure how it ended even though I read the ending. Did they end up together? Or didn’t they? It just makes no difference to me, although I want to know just so I don’t feel like I read the book to get to no resolution.
