Brenna came back to her family, a broken wolf after her brutal abduction by a Psy Serial Killer. After being freed from that prison, she is faced once again with an unfamiliar cage put upon her by the Snow Dancer clan. The only person who treats her like she is not going to break is the coldest man she’s ever met, the elite Psy soldier Judd Lauren.
Judd Lauren is an Arrow, the elite warrior of the Psy race, who defected from the Psy net in order to protect his family. His emotions are kept buried under 100 feet of iced barrier and no one can melt even the smallest part of him. At least that is the way it was before Brenna came into his life; a broken piece of her former self seeking to become whole again.
What will happen when fiery Brenna battles Ice Cold Judd? Will he freeze her out, or will she melt him down?
Caressed by Ice is by far my favorite in the Psy series by Nalini Singh. She has created a uniquely inspiring world and even more fascinating characters to inhabit it.
It was told to me that I would probably not be a fan of Judd in this story. I am an incredibly strong character driven reader and since Judd has always seemed to be such an emotionless character it seemed we were not meant to connect. However, I had an instant connection with Judd, it was actually Brenna that had me on the fence. Judd was a light even though he thought he belonged in the shadow and this is what endeared me to him. He didn’t believe that he was entitled to love, no matter what he longed for, he never felt like he deserved it. Brenna couldn’t decide if she wanted to be protected or stand on her own, which is a battle many of us face on a daily basis, but when she needed protecting or the most elemental connection of skin to skin, she seemed to take Judd’s gift for granted. He’s not a man who liked to touch, yet he was always there for Brenna without question. It was an interesting dynamic to say the least.
I love watching as each character grows in each book and how the stories from one book carry over to the next and how Singh so seamlessly threads them throughout.
I am eagerly awaiting the release of Hostage of Pleasure to be released in September 2008.
If you love a great paranormal world full of intensely passionate characters check out the first in this amazing series, Slave to Sensation.
